Even before the coronavirus pandemic struck, the design industry was already shifting toward wellness in interiors. In fact, the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) reported back in 2017 that nearly 50 percent of employers said health and productivity programs were essential to their company strategy while 91 percent of employers reported offering health and wellness programs beyond medical cost savings.
IWBI also reported that the physical workplace is one of the top three factors affecting job performance and satisfaction, citing a study in which 90 percent of employees surveyed admitted their attitude about work is adversely affected by the quality of their workplace environment.
Now, more than ever, wellness is taking center stage in the design and construction of commercial buildings. This eHandbook offers tips and strategies from trusted sources for design professionals and building owners alike on this trend that is shaping the future.
