6 New Projects Heating Things Up in Miami

May 23, 2022

Posh hotels, a supercar showroom, cool offices and a casual learning center at an art museum are a few of Magic City’s latest offerings.

Welcome to Miami—and these new projects that are heating things up in South Florida.

1. Lamborghini Showroom | 14780 Biscayne Blvd, North Miami Beach, FL 33181

Automobili Lamborghini has unveiled its new design aesthetic with the reopening of the Lamborghini Miami showroom. The remodeled facility asserts the brand’s commitment and new design direction for the future. Beginning with eye-catching exteriors, Lamborghini breaks the mold of the standard storefront and offers pure, modern and state-of-the-art design that is consistent with Lamborghini’s core values. The new retail experience was built with a high level of customization in mind. Characterized by polygons, sharp forms, raw surfaces and a diffusion of light and color, Lamborghini Miami provides a 360-degree retail experience to its customers that is representative of Lamborghini’s modern and cutting-edge aesthetic.

2. Vivex Biologics HQ | 2430 NW 116th St, Miami, FL 33167

Leading global design firm Stantec has completed the interior design of Vivex Biologics, Inc.’s new headquarters in Miami, Florida. The 30,000-square-foot space for the leading regenerative medicine company, specialized in the development of naturally sourced treatment options, boasts modern interiors and finishes highlighted with bright green hues representing VIVEX’s brand identity. Stantec provided the interior design as well as the structural architecture for the facility expansion, which included the addition of production and research departments and administrative offices. An emphasis on human-centric design led to flexible spaces where employees have the option to collaborate or work in private as needed. High partitions were added for the staff that required more privacy and low partitions for those who work more collaboratively.

3. The Goodtime Hotel | 601 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139

The Goodtime Hotel—the first collaborative lifestyle hotel brand from David Grutman of Groot Hospitality and Pharrell Williams—officially opened its doors on Miami Beach’s Washington Avenue and 6th Street. The 266-room property promises an escapist, transportive atmosphere through its reimagined Art Deco aesthetic, which unwinds over nearly 100,000 square feet of public space. The Goodtime Hotel’s architect Morris Adjmi, designer Ken Fulk and landscape architect Raymond Jungles breathed life into its spaces and rooms. Its corrugated facade, airy atrium entryway, hand-painted hothouse murals and Deco plasterwork recall the opulence and nostalgia of a time gone by, but this building has been entirely designed for modern travelers' tastes. Its 266 guest rooms range from majority individual Queen bed accommodations to a handful of Suites.

4. Education Lab, Museum of Art and Design | 600 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL 33132

The Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College (MDC) recently launched a new multipurpose Education Lab on the third floor of the College’s National Historic Landmark Freedom Tower. Adjacent to the Museum’s galleries and conceived and executed by the Miami studio AMLgMATD, the lab will host education programs for all ages, from children to adults. The design team created a dynamic ensemble of custom-built cabinetry, furniture and wall and floor treatments that can be reconfigured for multiple uses. Monochrome wooden surfaces alternate with strategically deployed moments of strong and vivid color. AMLgMATD employed sustainable, healthy and recycled materials, and invented a unique and engaging hybrid style called “Tropical Cubism.”

5. Novotel Miami Brickell Rooftop Bar | 1500 SW 1st Ave, Miami, FL 33129

Inspired by the sun and sand motif of the local Miami culture, the Novotel Miami Brickell rooftop bar features custom-colored awnings that were used to create a seamless transition from the beach to the bar. The design team, BHDM Design, turned to Serge Ferrari and their fully-customizable Flexlight Perform 502S2 material to perfectly execute their vision for the space. The fabric bridged the existing framework of the rooftop with the updated design intent by adding a pop of color, while also providing UV protection for the space.  Durability was a top priority for the team due to the natural elements at play in Miami, including intense heat and hurricanes.

6. Mr. C Miami | 2988 McFarlane Rd, Miami, FL 33133

Mr. C Miami - Coconut Grove is the latest premier luxury boutique hotel conceived by hotelier family Ignazio and Maggio Cipriani. The award-winning architecture firm, Arquitectonica, conceived the exterior design modeled after the pier-like Stiltsville structures located off the Florida Cape. The property has LEED Gold certification for environmental sustainability as well as green energy-efficient lighting. AD100 interior designer, Martin Brudnizki, designed the 100-room, six-story boutique property overlooking Biscayne Bay. The nautical look of the resort, as shown by its azure and white-colored terrazzo floors and glossy wood paneling, is influenced both by coastal Italian culture and the sleek interior of a yacht or cruise ship.
