New offices, a showroom and a hotel round out a few recent openings in the heart of Atlanta.
HOK | 133 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30303
HOK has moved its Atlanta office from 191 Peachtree Street to the Georgia-Pacific Center at 133 Peachtree Street NE. A break area acts as the entry, welcoming guests into a residential-like space and encouraging informal gatherings in the kitchen. A central meeting space for client and studio events has a large open table, soft seating settings and window benches. The 48th-floor offers views of several of the firm’s design projects.
Currey & Company | AmericasMart, Building 1, Lobby 3 | 230 John Portman Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30303
Atlanta, Georgia is the home base for Currey & Company’s new 10,000-plus-square-foot showroom. Walls and counters are movable and will allow for more flexible displays and design events, both large and small. The most dramatic element in the newly designed space is an oval structure called the Ellipse made of high-grade plywood and covered in a white canvas that appears to float in the center of the showroom.
Indie Studios | 190 Ottley Dr, Atlanta, Ga, 30324
Indie Studios, a cultural development bringing together designers and creative companies, opened Jan. 15, 2020, with 65% of its first round of business owners being women -owned. The studio is located in a 35,000-square-foot former mid-century modern warehouse converted into a thoughtfully designed, culturally -based shared workspace boasting nine large studios and a dedicated “Suite Program” of 14 private, boutique, upscale and understated offices, plus porches, patios and a 150-foot front garden. Hotel Colee | 3377 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30326
Hotel Colee, Buckhead’s first Autograph Collection Hotel, is officially open and poised to make an impression thanks to the work of acclaimed interior designer Andrew Alford of Andrew Alford Creative. The perimeter of the lobby is solid lavender—from ceilings to window and wallcoverings to velvet banquettes—while the middle is studded with exuberantly colored furniture and details that evoke the statement pieces that elevate any outfit. Upstairs, the hotel’s guestrooms feature open-front, mirrored-back wardrobes, vibrantly hued window seats and walls adorned with prints by Lela Brunet.
Bennett Thrasher HQ | 3300 Riverwood Pkwy, Ste. 700, Atlanta, GA 30339
HLGstudio helped identify, plan and design a new workplace for accounting and tax firm Bennett Thrasher. The 58,000-square-foot office will be positioned for long term success through modular/adaptable space planning, branded interiors and the implementation of new technology throughout the space to help increase worker productivity. Through a communicating stair that connects the two main levels, Bennett Thrasher associates will be able to collaborate with each other more than ever supporting work processes that embody their core value of better together.
