As people increasing look to nature for inspiration and solutions, mushrooms are inspiring everything from plant-based diets to sustainable interior design. Mohawk Group’s new Above and Below pays tribute to these humble, yet heroic forms, bringing them to the built environment through a collection of biophilic carpet tiles. Featuring various scales and patterns that evoke the structural elements of mushrooms, this collection is not only visually stunning, but also environmentally (and socially) conscious. The line is part of the company’s Beyond Carbon Neutral initiative to entirely offset its carbon footprint, and when designers specify at least 500 square yards from the line, Mohawk will donate $.14 per square yard of carpet sold.
