International office furniture designer and manufacturer Teknion announced the opening of its new, expanded 7,300 square foot showroom in the Atlantic Station, the largest urban redevelopment project in North America and home to Atlanta's top design firms.
Designed by San Francisco based Vanderbyl Design and global architectural firm tvs design, the showroom features white pleated walls which rise to the ceiling. Screens with pleats of the same design create visual layers to define zones for customers viewing the furniture vignettes. The space is punctuated with an orange wall behind a white seating display grid to highlight Teknion's breadth of seating lines.
"We took on a new L-shape site - a cavernous space with soaring ceilings - in which we created interior architecture that celebrates the height while not overpowering our extensive product line," sayes Maxine Mann, President of Teknion's U.S. operations.
Mann continued, "The showroom succeeds both as a dynamic space and a neutral background that maximizes the furnitures's impact."
To celebrate the opening of the showroom, 600 of the greater Atlanta area architects, designers, real estate professionals and corporate clients were invited to attend the opening party on Thursday, March 15.
Industry guests networked, toured the new space which is targeting LEED-CI Gold and enjoyed a night of music, entertainment and local fare. Local DJ Tim DeGroot and percussionist DeShone Williams spun a dizzying array of music mashed up from rock to soul and R&B while Buckhead's own favorite bakery CamiCakes provided the custom designed cupcakes. Guests reveled in taking group photographs and creating personalized flip books to commemorate the opening.
As an appreciation for the opening event and to honor all of the Atlanta area industry architects and designers, Teknion made a donation to their nonprofit partner Public Architecture, whose 1% program's mission is to engage architects and designers to commit 1% of their time to pro bono projects for underserved communities.
"Pure, clean and contemporary, Teknion's new Atlanta showroom offers a bold, yet elegant use of materials and space to express our corporate culture and show off our diverse product line. The innovative showroom experience that showcases much of the Teknion suite of products is enhanced digitally by an Ipad App," added Mann.
Teknion's showroom is located at 271 17th Street NW, Suite 125. For more information or a tour of the space, contact Chandra Jackson at [email protected].
