Dichroic from 3M

June 25, 2014

Dichroic is constructed from premium-grade multilayered polymeric film for 3M.

Where did you grow up?
Saint Paul, Minnesota

What was your first big break?
I don’t like to kiss and tell, but before making my debut in the architecture world you could find me dressing up luxury perfume bottles.

What’s the rumor mill churning out about you these days?
People say I am moody—sometimes I’m warm, sometimes I’m cool—it just depends on the way the light strikes me. I guess it’s in my DNA to shift (color that is).

Where was the last place the paparazzi photographed you?
I made an appearance at NeoCon in Chicago with three of my closest 3M buddies: VESSEL, SHEER and DI-NOC!

Aside from sugar and spice, and everything nice, what else are you made of?
I’m constructed from premium-grade multilayered polymeric film—only the best! I love that way the colors are able to shift from both sides of me.

What’s your favorite design genre?
I am fascinated by film photography. I love the unexpected effects of colors that come from shooting film; even expired film can create amazing effects! It reminds me of the colors that I reflect. Depending on where you are looking, the colors can be unexpected!

If you could get one plastic surgery procedure what would it be?
I am already engineered to perfection—easy to apply, made of non-metallic and non-corrosive material. People typically people come to me to make them look good. That said, I am always up for a laser cut.

What’s your biggest turn-on?
Light! I love showing off my assets in the light, especially the way it bounces off me to reveal a beautiful color spectrum, much like a butterfly wing!

Turn-off?
I hate being left in the dark, because I’m made to be in the spotlight! Did I mention that I shine beautifully like a butterfly wing?

Who are you wearing right now?
I almost wore the color Blaze, which changes from the warm tones of cyan, blue, and magenta to red and gold, but since it is so hot in the city, I opted for Chill which transmits cool tones of blue, magenta, and yellow to the reflective colors of gold and blue.

Who’s your current bestie?
My old pal, Glass! You could say we were meant to stick together like a 3M adhesive.

What’s your next starring role?
It’s been a busy spring with appearances at Salone, HD Expo in Las Vegas, and NeoCon in Chicago, so I am looking forward to spending some time back at the 3M Innovation Center in Saint Paul this summer. I am always available for special appearances!

Who would you like to work with next?
I would like to be layered and get close with other 3M FASARA films to create a new look. FASARA Silver Illumina is looking hot right now, and I am always fashion forward.

What’s the worst part about fame?
Not being able to hide anything because everything about me is on display. I guess you can say I’m pretty transparent.
