The New York Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA NY) is preparing to welcome attendees to its annual Color Invasion event, featuring a biophilic design theme, on October 24, 2024 at Center415 in Manhattan.
Since 2001, IIDA NY has held the annual networking and stewardship event to celebrate the design community, and encourages guests to dress in costumes aligned with the year’s theme. This year the event will take inspiration from biophilia and sustainability with its BioPhantasia theme.
In a press announcement, Color Invasion committee co-chair Brian Bates said, “As part of the design industry, we recognize the importance of sustainability and our connection to the planet. Color Invasion creatively immerses attendees in biophilia within the built environment, continually evolving to deepen this connection and inspire new perspectives.”
Co-chair Steven South added that the event planners have “[embraced] the vibrant essence of the Amazon, with inspiration drawn from its flora and fauna. The decor, lounge settings, and catering will reflect the beauty of bioluminescence, natural greenery, and the diverse plant and animal life of the rainforest.”
In 2024, IIDA NY also celebrates its tenth year supporting the Pajama Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports children facing familial instability, low family income, and housing insecurity. The program aims to help create a safe and comforting bedtime experience for children in need. Color Invasion attendees are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped pajamas and books for children ranging from infants to 18 years of age. During the celebration, IIDA NY will also have an onsite Pajama Program store for those who wish to donate goods. Tax-deductible monetary donations are also accepted through the event’s Eventbrite registration page.
