BUILDINGS.com launches Elev8 Design Awards

Oct. 15, 2024
Program will recognize commercial building designs that demonstrate strides in innovation, sustainability, and social impact.

Endeavor Business Media’s BUILDINGS.com team is pleased to announce the launch of its 2025 Elev8 Design Awards targeting excellence in North American commercial building projects. The Elev8 Design Awards are supported by i+s and Architectural Products as related architecture & design media brands under Endeavor's portfolio.

Open to architecture, design, and construction firms, the awards program will celebrate outstanding achievements in sustainability, innovation, performance, social impact, and wellness across new construction and renovation projects.

Centering on design excellence, the Elev8 Design Awards seeks to highlight projects that exemplify the power of the built environment to positively impact people and the planet through a range of building use cases.

“The Elev8 Design Awards celebrate the ingenuity and forward-thinking approaches of industry leaders who are transforming the commercial built environment,” said Robert Nieminen, Chief Content Director at BUILDINGS.com. “These awards are not just a celebration of design, but a showcase of projects that set new standards for sustainability, technology integration, and social responsibility in the built environment.”

The awards feature eight primary categories, including:

  1. Commercial (e.g., offices, banks, data centers, convention centers)
  2. Institutional (e.g., government buildings, courthouses, embassies, research centers)
  3. Healthcare/Senior Living (e.g., hospitals, health clinics, assisted living facilities)
  4. Hospitality (e.g., hotels, restaurants, theaters)
  5. Mixed Use (e.g., live-work units, entertainment districts, transit-oriented developments)
  6. Multifamily (e.g., luxury apartments, student housing, memory care communities)
  7. Retail/Showroom (e.g., shopping malls, department stores, automotive dealerships)
  8. Civic/Public (e.g., libraries, museums, community centers, places of worship)

An independent panel of industry experts will evaluate Elev8 Awards entries against criteria including aesthetics, innovation, functionality, social impact, technology integration, sustainability, operational efficiency, and wellness.

Two Grand Prize winners will be awarded: one for New Construction and another for Historic Renovation/Adaptive Reuse. Gold, Silver, and Bronze Citations will be awarded to other outstanding entries. Projects with exceptional design qualities that do not fall within a specific award category will be recognized as Outstanding Designs, further broadening the opportunity for industry recognition.

Winners will be featured in the Second Quarter 2025 issue of BUILDINGS magazine, reaching more than 70,000 building owners and facility managers throughout North America, as well as in online media for BUILDINGS.com.

The Elev8 Design Awards program is open now, with an initial entry deadline of December 13, 2024. The judging period will take place during March 2025, with winners announced in April.
