Smith Consulting Architects’ Quantum Design Facility Now Complete

SAN DIEGO — Construction is complete for the 49,942-square-foot electronics manufacturing and testing facility of Quantum Design, located at 6325 Lusk Blvd., in the Sorrento Mesa area of San Diego. Smith Consulting Architects provided complete architectural and interior design services for the $600,000 project. Bedford Properties is the property manager. Kirt Gilliland, construction manager with Irving Hughes, provided oversight. Johnson and Jennings was the general contractor. The Quantum facility was designed to accommodate electronics manufacturing and testing uses. Project work for Smith Consulting Architects included building designs for new machine shops, test labs, and a production area. The mechanical and electrical systems were upgraded, and extensive helium exhaust and compressed air systems were installed. Mark Langan was the principal-in-charge for Smith Consulting Architects, while Randy Chumley served as the project manager. Members of the design team were McParlane & Associates, mechanical engineer, and MPE Consulting, electrical engineer. Subcontractors for the project included Qualtec Electric and BK Cox Mechanical.
