Holland, MI – Nicolai Czumaj-Bront, an industrial designer at Haworth, Inc., was one of 20 designers chosen for the Design Within Reach (DWR) 3rd annual "Chicago Furniture Now" competition. His design, a storage element called Silhouette, was chosen from more than 175 entrants and showcased at the DWR studio in Chicago on North Avenue. The DWR competition is designed to support new and innovative furniture designs by emerging Chicago designers.
"For me, successful design has beautiful form and simple function because individuals want to live and work in spaces that inspire them," says Czumaj-Bront. "It's important that design provides function that people can use and understand."
Silhouette sculpts space to create a storage element that can be used as a bench or coffee table—it can also be grouped in multiples to create shelving, display space or act as a divider within a larger space.
Czumaj-Bront received an Industrial Design degree from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
