Project: Beaudevin Wine Bar by Schmidt Design Studio

March 28, 2011

MIAMI—Beaudevin Wine Bar allows travelers a place not only to unwind, but is also tailored to refined tastes, right in the midst of the bustling Miami International Airport’s D Terminal.

Schmidt Design Studio, an interior design firm specializing in restaurants, bars and corporate spaces, worked with HMSHost and Cuhaci & Peterson Architects to transform the 1,000-square-foot space into a high-style European oasis for travelers.

The 42-seat wine and cheese bar uses elements such as custom wine glass chandeliers to brighten the space. Illuminated green bottles light the bar backdrop and entry columns for a pop of color and to embody the contemporary theme.

“You may be in the Miami airport, but the design offered in Beaudevin is not only lush and exciting, but welcoming as well. It draws you into its environment,” says Anna Schmidt, CEO and principal interior designer of Schmidt Design Studio. “From the slatted ceiling that envelopes guests to the wine tasting counter to the wine glass accents, it's the attention to details that will appeal to wine lovers in this space.

Along with interesting wine-related embellishments, unique to Beaudevin is an area designated for wine tastings. Custom cement mission tiles at the bar and wine tasting area creates a faux area rug and gives wine tasters a place to sample the wines unique to the establishment. Travelers will enjoy the laser-etched grape leaf design applied to each table, as well as the oversized lounge seating in whites and chocolate browns.
