Versus: Carnegie’s First and Second Generation Acoustic Sheers from Creation Baumann
Feb. 20, 2015
Carnegie’s line of acoustic sheers from Creation Baumann combines the luminosity of a more translucent textile with the sound absorption of a velvet or felt, thanks to a transparent tape yarn featuring an inherent shimmer. And while the first generation of these products, entitled Alphacoustic, Betacoustic, and Gammacoustic, highlight that luster, the next generation —patterns Deltacoustic and Zetacoustic—offer more matte, textural looks.
Read up on their differences and similarities in the chart below.
All acoustical sheers were tested according to ISO 354 / ISO 11654. And remember that Deltacoustic and Zetacoustic will officially hit the market in summer 2015, but are available for order now upon request.

Texture and Weave
The transparent tape yarn critical to each fabric's sound absorption has an inherent shimmer which is woven towards the front, giving this first generation luster and sheen.
Tape yarn is woven towards the back of the fabric in the second generation in order to achieve a more matte effect.
