The Hygge Hotel offers a unique design by incorporating elements that don’t belong in the space. It follows similar design patterns to Central Park. For instance, Olmstead introduced a park into the middle of an urban atmosphere. The Hygge Hotel offers a community garden and aspects of nature in an area were it’s not habitual to be (just as Central Park acts in the city of New York.) The space tells a story by framing moments of history from the Akerselva River. It also frames nature and incorporates biophilic design patterns to go along with its garden theme. With the use of water, heat, and light the space will pay attention to what makes us feel open hearted and alive and create well-being, connection, and warmth. Organic and re-purposed materials provide an uncluttered design and a rich earth tone pallette offers a place to unwind and relax. The experience as you walk through the growing hotel allows travelers to be immersed in something they will never forget.
