These Laminates Radiate the Warmth of Real Wood

Feb. 26, 2019

Treefrog’s laminates feature a real wood veneer that makes it easy to create spaces with the warm, rich look of natural materials.

It looks like real wood—because it is.

The beauty and warmth of wood shine through the 30-plus tones in Treefrog Veneers’ collection of prefinished real wood veneer laminates. Classic walnuts, white and gray oaks and bold zebrawood can be used in vertical panels, millwork, cabinetry and any other application that requires a durable laminate with a consistent look.

Crafted in Italy, it’s created by Chemetal, a second-generation family-owned company in Easthampton, MA, that has been in business for more than five decades.

“I know it’s kind of boring to say Treefrog is reliable, but’s it’s true,” says Geoff Schaefer, Treefrog’s president and creative director. “And really, in a project where you’re dealing with myriad materials, you don’t want headaches.”

Rich wood tones complement any space, from high-end hotels that evoke the familiar feel of home to health clinics that need to look more comfortable than clinical. Materials inspired by nature give guests a valuable connection to the outdoors—and making that connection is easy when you can specify from a range of colors, textures and wood species.

Shown below are three real-world installations of Treefrog Veneer products in different commercial settings.

Treefrog’s Washed Walnut Groove, a medium-toned walnut laminate, creates a warm, textured look on the cabinetry in the office of Current at the Banks, a luxury apartment building in Cincinnati, OH. The 30-plus laminates in the collection cover a spectrum of popular European and American wood tones.

These vertical panels in the AC Hotel Bloomington Mall of America feature Walnut Straight Grain. Its semi-gloss topcoat keeps it looking vibrant, and the use of real wood in the veneer rather than the typical décor paper face brings each application to life. The laminate backer means Treefrog applies as easily as a standard laminate.

Walnut Straight Grain gives the AC Lounge in Bloomington, MN, a calming, natural feel perfect for weary travelers and shoppers from the nearby Mall of America. The collection includes a wide spectrum of neutrals, as well as bolder options in cherry, zebrawood, teak and macassar.

Treefrog Open, a collection of eight new neutrals, premiered at NeoCon 2018, where it won a Best of NeoCon award in the Surfacing Materials and Finishes category.
