Coverings 2019: These Innovative Wallcoverings are Made of Ultra-Thin Large Slab Tile

April 11, 2019

At Coverings 2019, Cotto D’Este reveals four new patterns in its Wonderwall collection, which comprises the thinnest large slab tile currently on the market.

At Coverings 2019, it’s clear that ceramic and porcelain tiles are versatile products. Marble and digitally printed pictures are just two of the several trends on display. But at Cotto D’Este USA (booth 3718), tile pushes the boundaries of its role in décor with the Wonderwall collection – a new ceramic wallcovering collection that’s both eye-catching and innovative.

Wonderwall was inspired by contemporary decorative solutions and is meant to interpret wallcovering. The collection is comprised of large Kerlite slabs.

These ultra-thin tiles have a thickness of 3.5 mm, making them the thinnest gauged porcelain currently on the market.

Because of digital printing technology, Cotto D’Este is able to project patterns and different effects on the large slabs, and give images precision and a three-dimensional quality.

The Wonderwall collection now comes in 12 patterns, four of which were unveiled at Coverings 2019, the global tile and stone expo taking place in Orlando, FL. The four new themes include Zen, Dream, Jungle and Frame.

Zen has a delicate and gentle vibe and would be ideal in sophisticated rooms with a contemporary style. The light colors chosen for this theme enable the creation of bright and welcoming architectural spaces.

Dream evokes a dreamlike world with an enchanted and fairytale spirit, featuring designs and shades inspired by nature to recreate a magical environment.

Jungle is inspired by the latest decoration trends, evoking a luxuriant, exotic, primordial nature. The bright colors and irregular patterns act as a backdrop for both contemporary and classic environments.

Frame is defined by geometric designs and references to Cubist paintings. This abstract, refined theme is suitable for the most sophisticated spaces. Its soft shades give the pattern a sense of both whimsy and grace.

Each pattern is available in two sizes. Although Wonderwall is ultra-thin, it’s also strong and resistant to humidity, two important qualities when using tile as an interior material.

Cotto D’Este showcased Jungle for its exterior booth display, highlighting the flora trend that many tile companies are working to incorporate into their tile designs. Headquartered in Italy, it also has a facility in Lexington, KY, enabling its reach into the US market.
