Nov. 30, 2016

Design-savvy options for any budget

The name Maharam is synonymous with the sharpest in class and style in the world of textiles. From star-studded collaborations to historic and groundbreaking releases in pattern and construction, Maharam continues to offer up a truly original aesthetic for architects and interior designers needing to make a statement in their projects. Following is a preview of what the company will be starting the new year with, as well as a few other options that represent both its newer releases and timeless staples.

Mingled Plaid by Paul Smith | $$$$ 140/yard

Mingled Plaid is the new collaboration of Maharam and Paul Smith—a relationship that has turned into a true love affair between the company and British fashion designer. The 100-percent wool offering is a reinterpretation of the traditional features of a plaid. Each of the five color options contains a neutral ground accented by bright intersecting stripes. Mingled Plaid will hit the market next month.

Bask | $ $12/square foot

Bask is part of Maharam’s new leather line—its last intro for the year—and features a heavy grain with enhanced texture. Color is soft and rolling, and is made up of a broad palette of 35 shades, including metallic and matte options. It is both Greenguard and Greenguard Gold Certified.

Layers Park Double |   $$$$$ $300/yard

Layers was created by famed product designer Hella Jongerius and is considered a classic from the textile giant. The line consists of three embroidered patterns: Layers Garden, Layers Vineyard, and Layers Park, featured here. A wool felt serves as the base for intricate needlework, and all are available in either single or double layer variations. This textile has been accepted into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

Mode | $$ $28/yard

Mode is a substantial offering from Maharam at a practical price. If offers the look and feel of wool as it comprises heavier denier yarns—constructed from 80-percent post-consumer recycled polyester—that create a basket or hopsack weave. Colorways are unique as dyes result in two different hues that create an engaging contrast. Mode can be used for seating as well as walls and has a PFOA-free stain-resistant finish.

Parquet | $$$ $58/yard

Parquet is a 100-percent polyester Crypton offering from Maharam that will be introduced in January 2017. It’s a new take on the classic
herringbone with seven neutral options that feature a unique application of both color and scale. Parquet can also be utilized on both seating and upholstered walls.
